Presented by the Polish Music Center at USC, this year’s annual Paderewski Lecture-Recital will feature exciting young Polish composer and pedagogue Marcel Chyrzyński in a lecture about his compositional technique and inspiration. A student of Marek Stachowski and Krzysztof Penderecki, Chyrzyński’s works have been performed all over the world, and championed by such new music specialists as pianist Marek Szlezer and cellist Jan Kalinowski of the Cracow Duo. Friends since childhood, and now colleagues of Chyrzyński at the Krakow Academy of Music, profs. Szlezer and Kalinowski will provide an intimate survey of Chyrzyński’s catalog of works, including a World Premiere of a new piece for clarinet, cello and piano.
A reception will follow the concert.
