Dear Members and friends of Polish and American culture,
We are pleased to announce our next meeting to take place at the Polish Retirement Home lounge (Szarotka, 3400 W Adams Blvd in LA) located just next to “Our Lady of Bright Mount C.C.
It will be on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 11 am. We will have a brief social, then short meeting, followed by a program recalling a visit to Arden: Helena Modjeska’s home in the mountains. On Saturday, January 10, eight of our members took the guided tour.
Briefly, Helena was well known and a respected Shakespearian actress who traveled extensively across America in the late 1800′s and early 1900′s. Her home in Arden is only one of two National Park landmarks in Orange County. The other one is the Richard Nixon Library.
We will be displaying actual clothing designed and made by Polish seamstresses as well as modeling it. Several of us will be sharing their thoughts about the visit as well as more information on her life. Following the program, will we adjourn for a Polish lunch in the Szarotka Dining Room (Cost is $12.50 and we need reservations for the lunch so they know how much to prepare for.) If you have an item made in Poland, you are invited to bring it for display or modeling. Please read the attachment for details.
If you have any questions or need a ride or want to carpool, let me know.
Hope to see you.
